Assignment: Intership
During the internship of six month at the Dutch fashion brand Circle of Trust I have seen at first hand how things are done in the industry. Learning new skills and methods, but also to develop my knowledge and skills were daily tasks. In these months I co-created the Spring / Summer ’19 collection.
Creating the concept
Circle of Trust is an internationally operating fashion brand based in The Netherlands. During my internship I was working on the new Spring Summer ’19 collection. By doing market research, colour and trend watching in the fashion industry I created some moodboards as a starting point for the collection. In the end, the collection will exist out of three blocks with each a different colour scheme.
Co-creating the flash collection
In-between designing the collection, I had to design prints for the flash collection Spring Summer ’18. Before this assignment I had never made an all over print, so I had a lot to learn about making prints in Adobe Illustrator. In the end I made over 10 prints and eventually one was chosen to be in the small flash collection. For this collection I also arranged a shoot so that the agencies that sell Circle of Trust have good photos of the new collection to show to their costumers. It was fun to organize.
Designing the all over and chest prints
Besides creating technical drawing for the Spring / Summer ’19 collection, I also had to make the all over and chest prints. It was a lot of fun as I like drawing and to show my creativity. In total around eight all over prints and six chest prints made the cut for the collection.
Designing the garments
During my time at the HQ of Circle of Trust I have made around 80 technical drawings for this collection. My task was to translate the newest trends and what is available in the current market into commercial garments. A couple of the designs I made can be seen here.
Organizing and styling the photoshoot
At the end of the my internship I had to organize the photoshoot in Nice. Scouting for locations and places so that the outfits really pop out. By the use of Google maps and my own knowledge of Nice I managed to created an overview per outfit with locations to make the shoot go smooth.
