Assignment: Create a brand
The specialisation Make & Buy focuses on the omnichannel world of the Fashion buyer / Product manager. Together with three other students we created a fictive fashion brand in six months called Bed of Roses.
Creating the concept
Bed of Roses is fictive clothing brand that clashes between easy comfort & delicate femininity. By performing target research, we (group assignment) came to the conclusion that there is a need in the Dutch market for sophisticated comfort wear with focus on knits mixed with lace and silk.
Analyzing competitors
In order to determine the positioning in the Dutch market, I first conducted a thorough competitors analysis. To underpin the research, professional shopping trips where planned at these stores in order to make a marketing mix. Eventually moodboards were created from these competitors to show the brand identity clearly.
Designing the collection
In total 63 style were created for this collection. The base of this collection includes lots of knits, lace detailed garments and loose fitted items. For this assortment I designed all tops, skirts and some pants. During this assignment I improved my skills in Adobe Illustrator.
From 2D drawing to 3D garment
The intermediate assignment was to transform one garment of the collection into a 3D prototype. By using Cadcam (pattern program) and Modaris (3D program) I have strengthened my skills with these programs and broadened my knowledge.
Creating the logo and website
The logo and website that I designed looks simple with female elements. The simple layout makes it easy for the consumer to move through the website to purchase items (thoughtful user experience). When designing the website we looked at the web shops of the competitors. My Adobe skills were tested when making the layouts for the dummy website.
